Last Saturday, I was introduced to a wine called Paraduxx, Napa Valley Red Wine, 2004. It is produced by the Duckhorn Wine Company, and is a lovely blend of 65% Zinfandel, 28% Cabernet Sauvignon, & 7% Merlot. Why do I like this wine? I like this wine because it's full-bodied, but not overly so. It is very balanced and drinkable. Especially during weeks like this when the weather can't seem to make up its mind, and it's not quite hot enough for chilled wines. I would have with BBQ, a hearty stew, or lamb and beef dishes... dress this one up or down.
Each year (for each vintage) the people at Duckhorn commission an artist to design the label, using their own personal style and medium. They are asked to create their interpretation of "a pair of ducks native to the Pacific Flyaway". This particular label above is the 11th in its series and created by Andrew Denman.
The Paraduxx Vineyard House is in Napa Valley (approx. 20 minutes south of Duckhorn Vineyards) and open daily from 11am to 4pm with tastings by appointment. (707) 945-0890.
