This Friday, at the Next Chapter Bookstore, on 622 Main Street in Woodland, author Georgeanne Brennan will be appearing to do a book signing of her latest work, A Pig in Provence: Good Food and Simple Pleasures in the South of France (Chronicle Books, 2007). A Pig in Provence catalogs Georgeanne's truffle hunting with pigs, midnight meals on Bastille Day, and learning how to make goats milk cheese from her neighbors.
Ms. Brennan is a local author living here in Nor Cal and member of Slow Food Yolo.
Near the bookstore is the restaurant Tazzina Bistro. It opened in 2004 and is housed in Cranston's Hardware. The menu is decribed as an "American Bistro with a Creole touch". I will be dining there on Friday evening and I really look forward to it. Of course, I will be taking pictures and blogging all about it!
According to the bistro's website, they are serving a Mother's Day Prix Fix Menu brunch for $25 a person. I know a lot of places in Sacramento are all booked for Mom's day...maybe Tazzina has a few spots left if you are still looking for a place to take mom. Call (530) 661-1700 for details. The menus (both for Mother's Day and regular lunch and dinner) look terrific.
Another item to note about Tazzina Bistro is their Julia Child Thursdays Menu. Each Thursday in May,they feature a menu inspired by "The French Chef". This Thursday is Salade Mimosa- green salad with sieved egg & herbs…$6.50, Daube de Boeuf a La Provencale - Casserole of beef with wine vegetables & steamed rice…$19.50, & Babas au Rhum - yeast cake soaked in rum with apricot preserves & slice almonds…$6.50.
