I should return in a few months to be fair and to give a proper assessment.
But for now...
I squeezed in to Paul Martin's with a guest right at 9:00, but the kitchen seemed to be behind even at near closing.
Nice atmosphere, yes. Hosts, hospitable.
Waiter, overly attentive, almost comically so.
My guest was way more hot than my food. I was OK with that. Ha.
Seriously, I am not sure that the food temperatures were safe--as in food inspection safe, and we did send one of the plates back.
They did not have balsamic vinegar. Waiter mistakenly told me that people had requested this item all night. Hmmm... I would have remedied this problem right away by sending someone to the grocery to fetch some if so many guests were asking for it, but that's just me.
Wine list is good. I had the Sobon Estate Zin, natch! :)
Fries are too skinny, but that is a personal preference.
My mushroom burger was very distinctive, in a good way. :) It was not a premade frozen patty, but a collection of mushrooms almost loosely packed onto delicious and fresh bun. Just wish it would have been warmer!
We were seated at 8:45. Appetizer was not served until 9:30 or 9:45. I am pretty sure we didn't eat our main courses until almost 10:15. I could be wrong on exact times, but I know it took a lot longer than it should have.
Practice night, though. Here's hoping it gets better, because it totally can. Food was good overall. I was happy to be invited and to opine. Thanks.
