Fantastic Seasonal Fare & Half Off All Wines in November at Piatti Restaurant, Roseville

Last night, I enjoyed dinner at Piatti Roseville.

Piatti Roseville has been serving rustic Italian cuisine for over a decade. Their
executive chef is David Feldman. His style can be described as a combination of a focus on fresh, seasonal ingredients incorporated into old world recipes.

My date and I started off with a 2004 C.G. Arie Syrah from Amador. I chose the wine to go with his dinner selection.

The wine has a spicy nose with notes of pine wood. In taste, there are very appropos for the season cranberry and dark cherry accents. It was a good wine to begin with on its own, and also to drink with our entreés.

For dinner, I had the Pronti Salad with Romaine, Salami, Chickpeas, Olives, Roasted Peppers, Artichokes, Provolone, Parmesan, Crostini & Italian Herb Vinaigrette. It was quite decadent for a salad with all those cheeses, and with the crostini added, it was quite like a panzanella salad. This is a good thing, as panzanella is one of my favorite dishes.

My date ordered the lasagna. The lasagna at Piatti Roseville is made with Chicken Sausage, Spinach, Mushrooms & Ricotta Cheese with Marinara Sauce. If you are a person who likes a lot of sauce, be sure to ask for extra. This lasagna was rich and flavorful, a perfect little cake of meat and cheese.

I am not big on ordering desserts when I dine out because I make so many at home and I quite frankly get quite burned out on sugar (and try to avoid eating it). I preferred sipping the last of the C.G. Arie Syrah and nibbling on the foccacia-style bread that was served at the beginning of the meal. But, if you are looking for something a little sweeter, don't miss some of the selections on Piatti's dessert menu. Dessert is often an afterthought at many (especially chain) restaurants. Not here.

I have to say I was tempted by a few options, namely the Dolce per Dominica and the Cioccolata. You can download and gaze (lovingly) at their entire dessert menu by clicking here. They also offer 15-20 after-dinner beverages such as ports, limoncellos and aperitifs.

During this month (November 2009) Piatti is uncorking their cellars!! All wines on their list are half off by the glass and by the bottle!

If you are looking for a space for a holiday event or reception, Piatti Roseville can host your group. Not only are their private rooms beautiful and spacious, an extra incentive is their $100 gift card if you choose them to plan your party!

Piatti Roseville has a banquet room that accommodates 65 seated and 100 standing, as well as a fireplace room also accommodating 65 seated and 100 standing.

Chicken skewers are one of the appetizers offered as part of an event menu held in one of the private dining rooms.

Also pictured is the bruschetta, another appetizer in the spread.

You can find complete banquet & party menu here.

If you are interested in booking a holiday party or reception, you can contact Piatti's banquet coordinator Deirdre Miller at (916) 786-5678.

In addition to the regular menu, there are usually two specials of the day, once again incorporating those seasonal vegetables and flavors. Last night, there was a butternut squash soup available. There is also always a risotto of the day. Last night's risotto featured shrimp with wild mushrooms and mint.

Piatti also has a happy hour daily (in the bar area) from 4-6:30pm. They feature select appetizers for only $4.95. There are $4.95 lemon drops, cosmos, and margaritas, as well as beers for $2.95 & don't forget there's half off ALL WINE in November. That means there are wines for only $3 a glass!

To keep up with all the latest specials and features, you can follow Piatti Roseville on twitter here.
