CalNaturale Wines: Juice Boxes for Adults!

OK, so there is plenty of bad boxed wine out there. On the flip side, there is a glut of bad bottled wine. So before your wine snobbery gets the best of you, please consider some of the other benefits of wine in a box: 1. the wine lasts longer, and 2. ultimately, the consumer does not pay as much for the packaging or shipping. And now there is a brand I found that I like: CalNaturale.

CalNaturale Wines come in 500mL and 1 Liter boxes of Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon. These wines are great for outdoor events where glass containers are not allowed. No corkscrew, no big deal because the container has a screw cap closure, and of course there are no corkage issues with a screw cap.

The Cabernet Sauvignon grapes used to produce the wine are grown in the Paso Robles Appellation and are certified as having been farmed organically. The Chardonnay grapes come from from Mendocino. Carrying this sustainable theme even further, they have packaged CalNaturale in Tetra-Pak flexible packaging – convenient and very eco-friendly, utilizing less than half the greenhouse gasses, waste and energy in producing and transporting the product.

The wine retails for about $7 (500mL) and $13 (1-Liter) and can be found at Nugget Market, which happens to be one of my advertisers. :)

You can follow CalNaturale wine on twitter here and find them on Facebook here.
