Has anyone ever heard of this?
It is nicknamed "poor man's saffron"...and since I am a huge fan of saffron, my interest is now piqued!

I would like to actually use annato in a dish--I guess its a Cuban thing?, so I wouldn't use it in place of saffron--because saffron is irreplaceable in my opinion... (and saffron also now completely affordable at Trader Joe's, BTW)... but I would want to invent something completely new... with chicken or shrimp, and of course, a few of my favorite vegetables.
