Domain Change!

This website can now be found at cakegrrl.com! I followed somethinginseason.com's lead by doing this. I thought it was a great idea, because when I am talking about my blog with someone I have just met, it IS much easier to say, "My website is cakegrrl.com," instead of "my website is cakegrrlscakery.blogspot.com". There ya go.

I did the same thing, but mine's a little more confusing since the name of my site isn't the same as the address of my site. But somehow it all works out.

That was fast! Congrats!

How did you do that anyways?

You buy your domain (I bought mine through Yahoo!) and then they allow you to redirect the .com to the blogger site.

Awesome! I'm considering doing the same myself!

Hi Kristy,
The problem is that every page of your site now is cakegrrl.com. No permalinks. This makes it almost impossible for another blogger to link to a specific post of yours.
What you want to do is something called "domain name mapping". This will map the domain name cakegrrl.com against the blogger core address, but all of the directories underneath the core address will be preserved, allowing you to have permalinks that work.

Elise,
Thanks for the tip. I have no idea what I am doing and it really shows sometimes. I am so glad I work for a printed magazine and not for a web site. :)
