King of Feasts at the Sacramento Zoo, June 25th, 6-9pm ENTER TO WIN TICKETS!

One of my favorite summer events is the Sacramento Zoo’s King of Feasts. Now that summer has finally showed its face, come out and celebrate at this one-of-a-kind outdoor event.

Break out your luau attire and prepare for a unique evening of international aloha-flavor for adults. Relax with entertainment and food. The evening will include Ukulele players, Polynesian dancers, a hula-hoop contest and three silent auctions featuring one-of-a-kind items.

The party takes place on Saturday, June 25th, from 6 pm to 9 pm and will feature a wide selection of local beers, wines, premium spirits and mouth-watering specialties offered by the Sacramento region’s finest restaurants.

Some of the restaurants providing delicious samples include: 4th Street Grille, Chops, Cupcake Craving, Giovanni's Pizza, Grateful Bread, Just 4 U Catering, Kru Restaurant, L and L Hawaiian BBQ, The Melting Pot, Mochii Yogurt, Mulvaney's B&L / Culinary Specialists, Piatti, Pyramid Alehouse, Red Lotus Kitchen and Bar, Rubio's Fresh Mexican Grill, Sacramento Natural Foods Co-op, Taste of the Wild Catering, Taylor’s Kitchen and Vic’s Ice Cream. New this year, Food Trucks - Drewski’s Hot Rod Kitchen is confirmed with possibly more trucks on their way.

Breweries, wineries and beverages include: Amador Cellars, Boeger Winery, Bacardi, Barefoot Wine and Bubbly, Bogle Winery, Heringer Estates Winery, Hoppy Brewing Company, James David Cellars, Lost Coast Brewery, Michael-David Winery, Oakstone Winery, Renwood Winery, River City Brewing Company, Rominger West Winery, Scribner Bend Vineyards, Sudwerk, Terra d'Oro Winery and Twisted Rivers Wines.

This is the tenth consecutive year for the event, which draws hundreds of participants annually. Because of this fundraiser, the Zoo will close early at 1:30 p.m. that day to prepare for the Luau. Tickets may be purchased in advance for $45 for Zoo members, $50 for non-members or $60 at the door. Adults only, please. Visit the King of Feasts website here, or call 916-808-5888 to purchase tickets. Proceeds from this event benefit Zoo improvements, education programs and wildlife conservation.

If you’re on twitter, follow the Sacramento Zoo, and let’s talk about King of Feasts leading up to and at the event! Use the hashtag and phrase: #saczooKOF

For a chance to win tickets to King of Feasts, leave a comment on this post and tell me which restaurant or winery you love most and why, or which one you are excited to try. (You must be 21 or older to win).

I want to see what James David Winery brings to the Feast. His Pinot is excellent.

I love Mulvaney's because of their classic and local style and would love to try Chops!

deciding......wine is easy. I don't drink (much) but LOVE the name Barefoot Wine because I love to be barefoot and it also kinda reminds me of that I Love Lucy episode! lol!!

as for food.....after long consideration I will narrow it down to 2: Chops and Drewskis. I have eaten at and loved most of the restaurants on the list (L&L the day after returning from the islands!) but haven't had the opportunity to try Chops or Drewskis...and I love trying new things!

thanks for the opportunity!

I attended King of feasts for the first time last year and would have to agree that it is one of my favorite events! I enjoyed many of the restaurants and wineries but would have to say Zocalo was the most memorable. This year I definitely look forward to the dessert booths. I am planning a party for my daughter and looking for ideas on cake pops and cupcakes so I look forward to trying lots of sweets .

I have to give props to L&L Hawaiian BBQ for bringing island flavor to Sacramento! I'm from Hawaii and sometimes crave local island food and this is the only place I can get it! From their laulau to malasadas, it is definitely THE place to get your aloha on. So glad they are supporting the Sacramento Zoo fundraiser!!

I love Melting Pot! I haven't tried most of the restaurants that are listed, but the Food Truck(s) are what I am most interested in trying. I heard great reviews of SactoMoFo.

I think all of it will be delish! But since we have NEVER had the chance to go to THE Melting Pot and we have talked about it for years, the chance to taste their goods will be the booth I would head to first :)

I don't drink but I love to eat and this looks like a great spread. L&L always has good eats and it brings back memories of my childhood (going to my sister's hula competitions). I am looking forward to a few places I have not tried like Giovanni's Pizza and Red Lotus Kitchen but I'm sure all the resturants are top notch. Can't go wrong with cupcakes and ice cream for dessert either! =)

They all sound great but Drewski's Hot Rod Kitchen caught my eye! I am in charge of our school's first car show for a fundraiser for 6th grade science camp. I am looking for something different to bring for a food offering and that sounds very promising!

We love going to SHOKI RAMEN! There's nothing like this in Sacramento. Their ramen and curry with rice is outstanding! The owner and chef is from Japan and he has brought those flavors to us to enjoy.

Like the mighty lion, Sudwerk was once the king of the Sacramento beer jungle, with the biggest beers around. I know they are still in Davis, but I would love to taste their amazing brews once again in the 916.
