Is it pie? Is it cake? It's both. Why not?
Original recipe swiped from
Judy Getty off the A & G website. For this version, I used cherries and blueberries, and added a 'lil chocolate action. Here ya go:
Crust:
1 3/4 cups flour
1/4 cup cocoa
6 Tbs sugar
1/2 tsp salt
8 ounces unsalted butter
...And enough ice water to bind it all together.
Fruit Layer:
2 cups fresh cherries, pitted
3/4 cup blueberries
½ cup sugar or Splenda
1/2 vanilla bean pod
Mix all ingredients and place in unbaked crust.
Cake Layer:
3/4 cup + 2 Tbsp softened butter
1 1/2 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 cup flour
1/4 cocoa
1/2 cup chocolate chips
Cream together butter and sugar. Add eggs and beat well. Add flour and cocoa and mix thoroughly. Fold in the chocolate chips, then dollop the mixture by spoonfuls over the fruit layer and smooth the top with a spatula.
Place the pake on a baking sheet to catch drips while baking. Bake for 1 hour at 350 degrees or until the top is golden brown. Serve warm or at room temperature with ice cream.

Pie is the new...CAKE??
Oh my god that looks YUMMY!!!
I think pake is the new piebler (pie plus cobbler, something I invented last summer). I love it! And it looks fantastic.
Judy Getty = the new Gale Gand? Props to her! All I did was add chocolate. :)
OK, so how does it taste? It looks super-yummy!
It's good, but I am a whack job and would add ice cream and some sort of syrup. I guess because I am not too much of a pie person. But for people who are, this is wonderful!
