Sacramento Wine Opener for
the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation


The Sacramento Wine Opener to Feature Exquisite Wine, Delicious Food, and Lively Entertainment to Fund Research Toward a Cure




The Sacramento Chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation’s Sacramento Wine Opener will take place on Thursday, November 13th, 2008 at the Sacramento Grand Ballroom in downtown Sacramento. The Sacramento Wine Opener is part of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation’s newest national wine-tasting series.

The Wine Opener is intended to reach the growing audience of wine enthusiasts across the country and offers a new and inventive way to raise funds for cystic fibrosis (CF) research and care. The unique appeal of this event coupled with the mission of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation offers a worthwhile experience for attendees and exhibitors alike.

Guests at The Sacramento Wine Opener can taste a wide variety of wines provided by local wineries such as Perry Creek Winery, Revolution Wines, Rail Bridge Winery, Michael-David Winery, Robert Mondovi’s Woodbridge Winery, Silkwood Winery. Guests may also visit the featured wineries at a later date by signing up for Lodi or Amador wine tasting tours through CF Foundation partner, Sacramento Wine & Nightlife Tours. Festive tasting stations throughout the venue will feature gourmet cuisine and other fine foods from local Sacramento area restaurants. Some of the participating restaurants include The Melting Pot, Vallejo’s Catering, Dad’s Café and Tucos Wine Market and Café while coffee will be served by Temple Fine Coffee and Tea and VitaminWater provided by Glaceau. The evening also features a “marketplace” atmosphere showcasing local and national purveyors of wine-related items, travel, and music. Guests also will be treated to lively auctions and entertainment.

“From wine novices to advanced wine enthusiasts, The Wine Opener is a casual and fun evening for all participants. Our goal with this event is to provide an atmosphere in which an attendee, sponsor or exhibitor can positively impact their community while enjoying themselves,” said Scott Lay, Sacramento Wine Opener Chair and President/CEO of the Community College League of California.

“I am optimistic that this event will be a great success in Sacramento. I hope the participants come away from this event having made a significant impact on fund-raising for CF research and care and with a greater appreciation of wine and the featured wineries.”

A general admission ticket for The Wine Opener is $40.00 ($20.00 of which is tax-deductible) and includes all food and wine tasting, admission to the event, and a keepsake tasting glass and journal.
