Best of Sacramento!!!

The Best of Sacramento Party 2008. So fun! I had such a great time this year. A lot of my friends, favorite personalities, and most loved restaurants were all in one place! Here are some pictures from the event…

My friend Tia Gemmell was taking pictures all evening at the Firehouse Restaurant display. Is it hot in here? :)

The Tower Cafe sampled their french toast and spanakopita.

This is me with the manager of Bella Bru Natomas. I play trivia there on most Monday evenings. They take very good care of me and have consistently good food. Their bakery is outstanding. Just take a gander at these pastries below:

Almond Crescents

Petit Fours

Quiche from Whole Foods

Raw Bar at Thunder Valley Casino. As you can see, the house always wins.

Here are some scones and tea time goodies from An Afternoon to Remember.

Here is the lady representing Barefoot Wines... One of the only vendors serving sparkling wine. I was in a sparkling kind of mood, I guess!

Il Fornaio spread. Does Il Fornaio mean "carbs" in Italian? I know it means "oven", just kidding, dear readers…

La Provence and their Duck Crepes! La Provence is most definitely one of my Best of Sacramento. So many good memories there, and site of 2008 KD birthday dinner. Click here to find out their upcoming events.

I love buttercream and fondant… lalalala... I miss doing wedding cakes! *sigh*

Becky getting a "Total Beauty Experience". She doesn't need it, though, because she's "totally beautiful" already!

Becky and Me. Ready for our closeups!

Showing my love of poultry at the Twisted Oak Winery booth.

Bassil, or Bassilicious as I like to call him. Give his hands a try and check him out at www.bodyserenity.com. This man works so hard to make sure your knots are rubbed out! Um, cue the Johnny Gill...

Book an appointment with Bassil to work off your holiday stress... Body Serenity massage also sells gift certificates! So, if you don't like to relax, allow your friends to... One more note: You can join Bassil's group "Massage Unlike Any Other" on Facebook!

Here are my boys, Jack Armstrong and Joe Getty, pictured with Bassil (who calls the show often). I love them all so much! Armstrong and Getty have "entormed" me for several years now, as I have been listening to them since I first moved here in 2004. They were the hosts of the party for the evening, and truly are part of the Best of Sacramento.

Here's me… had just arrived to the shindig when this was taken. Photo by Becky. :)

My favorites: Sobon Old Vine Zinfandel, Barefoot Bubbly (extra dry sparkling), Bassil and Body Serentity, the Firehouse's huge wheel of Parmigiano Reggiano ($900 value), Twisted Oak's 2005 Calaveras County Asterisk Percent Pound Ampersand At Exclamation, Tia Gemmell, Crush 29's friendly staff, Raley's fruit and cheeses, Bella Bru Cafe and Catering, La Provence Restaurant, Ink's sliders, Big Spoon Yogurt, El Centro (Kurt Spataro sighting, BTW) and the Junior League of Sacramento!

Finally, I want to comment on the brand new Citizen Hotel. (Opened two days ago, matofact.) I went there last night for a private event (following the Best of Sacramento) on the seventh floor terrace. OMG. The hotel is lovely and the view from the terrace is excellent. You can see the Capitol Building and The Cosmopolitan Cafe. The lounge inside the hotel: "Scandel" is cozy and the service there is excellent. Left my camera in the car, so I no piccies... Sorry.

Swoon. I love this town.
