Cherry Bomb...

That's when sport was a sport

And groovin was groovin.

and dancin meant everything––

We were young and we were improvin.

laughtin' laughtin' with our friends

Holding hands meant somethin' baby.

Outside the club--cherry bomb

Where our hearts were really thumpin.

say yeah yeah yeah...

Say yeah yeah yeah...

I was invited over to the bossman's house on Wednesday to pick what ended up being around 20 pounds of cherries! They were hanging brilliantly on the tree like little rubies shining in the sun. I was happy to see the birds and squirrels left them virtually unscathed--normally the berries are all chewed up by now... I love climbing high in the tree and picking the fruit. It almost makes me want to be a farmer... Making a cherry tart tomorrow (for my boss and his wife in return for letting me take all their cherries) and some cherry jam... would like to enter in the fair this year. Might attempt ice cream this weekend as well. Have to use the cherries before they spoil, you know. The best treat of all was the single fresh fig that my bosses' wife gave me before I left their house. Because I hail from Ohio, fresh figs and pomegranates are still so precious and exotic to me... But I used to be best friends with Fig Newton. :( Ha!

I just finished pitting about 10 cups of the cherries. Now they are ready to be turned into something yummy...
